SanDisk Unveils the World’s Highest Capacity microSD™ Card With 200GB

200GB* SanDisk Ultra® microSDXC™ UHS-I card, Premium Edition
MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS, BARCELONA, March 1, 2015 – SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK), a global leader in flash storage solutions, today introduced the 200GB* SanDisk Ultra®microSDXC™ UHS-I card, Premium Edition, the world’s highest capacity microSD card for use in mobile devices. In just one year after introducing its record-breaking 128GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC card, SanDisk has increased storage capacity by 56% within the same fingernail-sized form factor.  Keeping up with the demands of today’s mobile users, the new card provides the freedom to capture, save and share photos, videos and other files without worrying about storage limitations.

“Mobile devices are completely changing the game. Seven out of 10 images captured by consumers are now from smartphones and tablets. Consumers view mobile-first devices as their primary means for image capture and sharing, and by 2019 smartphones and tablets will account for nine out of 10 images captured,” said Christopher Chute, Vice President, Worldwide Digital Imaging Practice, IDC. “As the needs of mobile users continue to change, SanDisk is on the forefront of delivering solutions for these demands as is clearly illustrated through their growing portfolio of innovative products, including the new 200GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC card.”
SanDisk achieved this capacity breakthrough by leveraging the proprietary technology developed last year for the 128GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC card, and creating a new design and production process that allows for more bits per die.
“We continue to push technology boundaries to deliver record-breaking solutions that transform the way consumers use their mobile devices,” said Dinesh Bahal, vice president, product marketing, SanDisk. “By focusing on achieving new capacity and speed milestones, we are able to deliver trusted mobile memory solutions that give consumers the freedom to never stop capturing, saving, or sharing – with the benefit of fast speeds to transfer it all quickly.”
Ideal for Android™ smartphone and tablet users, this Premium Edition microSD card combines
the world’s highest capacity and blazingly fast transfer speed of up to 90MB/s to deliver premium performance.  At this transfer speed, consumers can expect to move up to 1,200 photos per minute2
Through SanDisk’s updated Memory Zone app users will have even greater control over their mobile device's memory storage. In the Memory Zone app, users can engage the OptiMem™ app feature which monitors the phone’s memory levels to inform users whenever the internal memory falls below a user-defined threshold. Once this threshold is reached, the OptiMem app feature will automatically transfer some of their old photos and videos to their microSD card, leaving them with more internal memory to continue making memories. The app, available for free download from the Google Play™ store, is compatible with most Android-powered devices and allows users to easily locate, organize, transfer and back up data.

Pricing and Availability

The 200GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card, Premium Edition, features a ten-year limited warrantyand will be available worldwide in Q2 at an MSRP of $399.99.

Mariah Carey and new billionaire boyfriend already talking marriage?

TMZ is speculating that Mariah Carey and her new boyfriend, James Packer, who is worth $4.6bn are already talking marriage. Read their report below...
Mariah doesn't waste time ... just days after she hopped on a yacht with new billionaire BF James Packer, they're already talking marriage.  Our Mariah sources say it's insane ... they've been "dating" for just a matter of days, but he's already told her he wants to marry her, sooner rather than later. The soonest can be when she's officially divorced from Nick Cannon. But we're told Mariah is open to tying the knot with James.
We got this photo of Mariah and James on the boat, wearing matching robes ... almost like they're on a honeymoon.
They've been cruising from country to country since late last week, and James blared Mariah's music for everyone to hear, including all the people on vastly smaller boats.
We broke the story ... James is obsessed with Mariah and her music. He went to her concert in Vegas a month-and-a-half ago and has been pursuing her ever since.

It's like a blast from the past.

Crosley Executive USB Turntable
First, there were cylinders of wax. And then we cleaned out our ears and started listening to music on discs. No, not compact discs yet, but records. Now, over 100 years since we listened to Emile Berliner's platters that matter, we're still enamored with records. We've got stacks and stacks of wax and we need to listen to the vinyl we love so well. Good thing people are still making record players. Like this one.
The Crosley Executive USB Turntable is super portable. Just open up the vintage-looking briefcase, and you're ready to listen to all the most popular records. The Crosley Executive USB Turntable features 3 speeds, built-in stereo speakers, and USB connectivity. And it just doesn't suck power via USB; it actually comes with software to allow you to rip music from your vinyl and convert it to digital. Because sometimes digital is the only way to travel, but when you can, whip out your Crosley Executive USB Turntable to hear some music how it was meant to be heard.

First quantum dot monitor to hit US retail shelves this summer

Quantum dot Philips

We’ve been hearing a bit more about quantum dot technology lately, and now Phillips has released the world’s first quantum dot monitor. The Phillips 276E6ADS sports a 27-inch screen with full HD resolution. The monitor utilizes Philips Color QS Vision IQ, which is optimized to provide vivid colors and more realistic images. Quantum dot technology is a semiconductor nanomaterial that forces the electrons to move only in three spatial directions, along the x,y, and z axis, supposedly providing an image that is completely stable and uniform.
Philips have partnered with QD Vision, which produces nanomaterials that dramatically improves color quality in televisions and other types of video display technology. Color IQ, QD Vision’s trademarked design, is a semiconductor nanocrystal technology that precisely emits light to produce more vibrant blues, greens, and reds. LCD TVs and monitors with Color IQ usually exhibit a more dynamic range of colors and can show the true natural palette encoded in the picture.
Defined color standards shown on chart of the human visual spectrum. Most LCD color televisions trade off color accuracy and detail as you go to a larger display. Have you noticed the same model of any brand TV seemingly has better color and smoothness on a 40-inch set than it does on a 60-inch set?  These sets only offer about 70% of the NTSC standard color gamut. QD Vision claims their technology offers 100% of the color standard, and looks vivid at any size or resolution.

For graphic artists and video enthusiasts, quantum dot displays offers 99% Adobe RGB color reproduction as well. The ability to display as much of the color gamut as possible is critical to photographers and producers of visual content. Previously, high-end monitors have offered around 80% of the gamut, while the Philips quantum dot display is the first to claim 100% of the NTSC standard and 99% of the Adobe RGB standard.

Touch Display Research, an independent technology market research and consulting firm, forecasts that the quantum dot display and lighting component market will surpass $2 billion by 2016 and reach $10.6 billion by 2025. Dr. Jennifer Colegrove, CEO of Touch Display Research, projects that “51% of computer monitors will quantum dot technology by 2025.” This statement is based on market analysis that profiled over 60 companies working on quantum dot materials and components
