Two popular African footballers; Emmanuel Emenike and Emmanuel Adebayor were during the weekend reported to have converted to Islam.
The Togolese Football icon, Adebayor converted to Islam on Sunday, July 5, 2015, when he was spotted taking the Shahada (the Islamic creed declaring belief in the oneness of God and the acceptance of Muhammad as God’s prophet)
He was pictured in an all white outfit standing close to an Imam as other Muslim leaders and supporters witnessed the occasion.
The ceremony is thought to have been held in Togo, Adebayor’s adoptive country.
Similarly, Super Eagles striker Emenike announced his conversion during a conversation with a coach of his club Vitor Pereira. Daily Post report.
The top scorer at AFCON 2013 was absent when the squad had breakfast on Saturday, prompting the manager to ask his whereabouts.
Emenike said: “I’m fasting”
Pereira replied: “You’re not a Muslim.”
Emenike insisted: “I became a Muslim
