Ed Sheeran has held onto the Number 1 spot on the Official Albums Chart, overhauling 5 Seconds Of Summer who claimed an initial lead on Wednesday’s midweeks.
Ed’s second studio album X, which is pronounced as ‘multiply’, last week became the UK’s fastest selling album of 2014 so far, selling 182,000 copies during its opening week. It has since gone on to sell an additional 93,000 in the last seven days, brining its tally to 275,000. X is now the UK’s fourth biggest selling album of 2014 so far behind Ellie Goulding’s Halcyon (Number 3), Paolo Nutini’s Caustic Love (2) and Coldplay’s Ghost Stories (1).
Ed told OfficialCharts.com: "Just heard the news that my album is at Number 1 again this week! And to hear that every track from it is doing so well on streaming is great too. Thank you to everyone that's been enjoying it, however you're doing so."
