Best 10 Rock Songs of 2013 - Top New Rock Music on Radio in 2013

Do you find searching for new rock music online to be an annoying task? Well stop wasting your time scrolling through bogus songs that some guy probably put together in his basement and got 17 views. Finding quality information is a dying thing these days online because of all the advertisements and spam. I started making these music lists because I could never find the information I needed with most of the other sites. Having a career in radio, I have to search all over the internet every single day to find quality new songs to play.. I find the best new rock songs for you, and compile them into a list, so you don't have to waste your time researching them. Add to your own library with these 10 new rock songs of 2013!

1. Mumford & Sons - "Lover of the Light"

Mumford & Sons have taken the US music industry by storm the past couple years and they are currently one of the hottest new rock bands of 2012 and 2013. They won "Best Rock Album of the Year" at the Grammy Awards this year which was a big deal. Their song "I Will Wait" was definitely one of the most popular and most played songs of 2012 on television and radio. You couldn't go anywhere in 2012 without hearing "I Will Wait" by Mumford & Sons and the video had monster success itself. The new rock song released as their second single off of the second studio album is simply named "Babel."
I have been a Mumford & Sons fan for a few years now and I am actually surprised that they have appealed to the masses the way they have recently. I never thought a British folk band would be winning a Grammy for " Best Rock Album of the Year." Another cool song that was a popular rock song for 2013 was "Learn Me Right (From Brave)" by " Birdy"",featuring 'Mumford & Sons.. She has a great soothing voice on and it has an acoustic rock and folk rock type sound to it.

2. Soundgarden - "By Crooked Steps"

Soundgarden is based out of the Seattle, Washington rock and roll world that many successful bands have been out of before. They now have six studio albums along with a live album and a few other compilation albums as well. Soundgarden are veterans when it comes to rock music and the the rock and roll industry. They have been together since 1984 and are still releasing new rock albums and touring the country, so my friends, it doesn't get much more rock and roll than that!
Soundgarden has released a new album in fall of 2012 titled "King Animal" and is one sweet album in my opinion. The hot new rock song "By Crooked Steps" is Soundgarden's new single off their new album and the music video was directed by none other than Dave Grohl, who needs no introduction if you are a true rock fan.

3. Imagine Dragons - "It's Time"

Imagine Dragons is one of the hottest rock bands that I discovered about a year ago and their music caught my ear because of it's totally unique and has a catchy sound. Many hardcore rockers would be very angry that I even put this on the best rock songs of 2013 list, but this is a list for new rock songs and if they want harder stuff there will be a hard rock list in the very near future. The song "It's Time" is the first song from Imagine Dragons that has ever reached the top 40 and it is a huge accomplishment for the young Indie rock band. Another newer rock song by Imagine Dragons is called "Demons" and is worth your time to check it out if you like the song "It's Time." Another new rock song in 2013 from Imagine Dragons is "Radioactive" and it is definitely worth adding to a rock and roll music library.

The band was formed around 2008 and most of Imagine Dragons' music is focused more toward uplifting people and encouraging a positive attitude in others. Since the song came out later in 2012, I don't think it reached the proper glory and potential fans it could have, if released a little later. I added it to the best rock songs of 2013 because the airplay has been greater this year.. The song ,"It's Time", got so successful toward the end of 2012, that it was nominated for "Best Rock Music Video" on the " MTV Music Awards."

4. Muse - "Madness"

Muse is one of those awesome underground rock bands with their own unique sound and they have had a cult like following for many years now. The song "Madness" was debuted toward the end of the summer in 2012, but most of the major exposure and airplay came in the rock music of 2013 circuit. Starting off the year very well, Muse's song "Madness"was nominated for ""Best Rock Song "of 2013 at the Grammy's. It seemed like everyone was jamming to this song in 2012 and 2013 ,considering it spent 18 weeks on "Billboard's" Alternative chart, making it the longest running #1 song on their chart ever! The previous record holder for this honor, was "The Pretender" by the Foo Fighters, which was a big hit song in its hay day. However, the new king of the charts is Muse, with the song "Madness," which is one of the best new rock songs of 2013 .

5. Benjamin Gibbard ft Aimee Mann - "Bigger Than Love"

Benjamin Gibbard is the frontman for one of my favorite bands of all time, "Death Cab for Cutie ", because he has such a unique voice and you really believe his lyrics in his music.. Ben Gibbard performed "Bigger Than Love" on "The Colbert Report with Aimee Mann" while promoting his first ever solo album called "Former Lives." Gibbard later said that he and Aimee Mann have been longtime friends and had been wanting to do a song together for quite sometime. He also performed a really cool acoustic version of "I'm Building a Fire," which is a slower song, but with his unique voice, it gets stuck in your head after a few listens.

Ben Gibbard has been around for quite sometime and has been putting music out there as long as I can remember. This is his first solo venture away from his band. I can't stress enough that he has such an amazing and soothing voice that is one of a kind. Not only is his voice good, but his songwriting ability is quite obviously awesome because it's got true emotion in it that everyone can relate to.

6. Paramore - "Now"
"Now" is Paramore's latest song and is the first single released in January 2013 off their self titled album. This is well on its way to being one of the best rock songs of 2013 because it has quickly climbed the charts in a month or two. Most of the major music critics and reviews have given positive feedback for the the new song. This self titled album they released this year is their fourth studio album as a band and they are on their way to legendary status. The music video for "Now" was played on MTV on a World Premiere segment for its debut.

Paramore is one of those great bands that has great rock songs and alternative songs, with a punk rock sound as well. I've liked all their albums back to the very first one and it's awesome to see a deserving band get great success. Even though many of their more hardcore fans felt they sold out when Paramore made a soundtrack song for the very overly famous "Twilight" movie, I just feel they took advantage of a great opportunity and ran with it.

7. Stone Sour - "Do Me A Favor"

I'm thinking this is going to be one of the hottest new rock songs of 2013 and will be all over rock and roll radio! I can just about guarantee that you are going to hear this song a lot later on this year. Stone Sour is one of those solid rock bands that always put out catchy rock songs that do well in mainstream media. "Do Me A Favor" is a hot new rock song that is off of Stone Sour's album "House of Gold & Bones Part 2." This album obviously is following part 1 that was released last year from Roadrunner Records.

8. Five Finger Death Punch - "The Pride"

"The Pride" by Five Finger Death Punch got its release hype towards the end of 2012, but most of the people that aren't big fans are now discovering this song. When it comes to radio, the shelf life depends on the song and the band. This song was perfect as a new rock song on radio and got great feedback from our followers that rate songs for us online and on radio. This is the third single from Five Finger Death Punch from the "American Capitalist" album. This is the 14th popular single released overall from this band and they are showing that they are here to stay in the rock music industry.

9. Hollywood Undead - "We Are"

This is another new rock song that was officially released towards the end of 2012 with the intentions of it being played in mainstream media in 2013. Hollywood Undead is the cream of the crop when it comes to popular rock bands in the industry and they have a huge, loyal following. This was the first single from the "Notes From The Underground" album and the music video is really sweet and really worth looking up and viewing. The album got up to #2 on the "Rock Billboard" 200 list and sold record amounts of copies within the first week of sales. "Notes From The Underground" was supposed to be released in summer of 2012, but it actually got pushed back to January 8th, 2013. This is going to be one of the best rock albums of 2013 and will be all over the radio.

10. Killswitch Engage - "In Due Time"

If I'm making a list of new rock songs, I almost have to include Killswitch Engage's music on the list, because they are one of the top rock bands we have these days. Killswitch Engage is out of Massachusetts and consider themselves "Massachusetts metal men." With their forthcoming album being released ,they are definitely established in the rock music industry. "In Due Time" is the hot, first single from the "Disarm the Descent" album released in February 2013. They presented the world premiere of the album with "Rolling Stone "on their web site. This is another hot, new rock album coming from Roadrunner Records once again.
