Mr Femi Fani-Kayode

Femi - Fani- Kayode

Mr Femi Fani-Kayode it is such a pity that, that novel you wrote to Mr president you call it a letter, you said it is not base on politics.why don't you support the president with your pen and paper rather capitalizing on what he said during the campaign.why don't you write to the public and plead to the people who is supporting the boko haram. some set off people have been accused of stealing some money which is meant for arms  for our soldier to protect us, in which they pleaded guilty.
sir you never say anything about it. you did not write a phrase about it not to talk about a paragraph, but you can write a novel about Mr president words during campaign. this is not a rocket science it is just a common sense.
where you are (sir ) is just a privilege, there are million of Nigerians who can reason beyond your limit.
Let forget about party, region, religion, ethic and background, Nigeria is our home.let just make Nigeria a better place for all of us
So sir use your pen and paper to give we Nigerians hope and not to demoralize us

Am not on anybody side, if the present administration does not give us what they promise us between their time frame we will say say it tomorrow .

Kenyan policeman gets stuck in married woman during illicit sex

A police officer in Kenya has been caught in a deadly web of sex scandal after he was caught stuck on a married woman laced with 'Magun'.

A Kenyan police officer was given the embarrassment of his life when he was caught red handed stuck between the legs of his secret lover who is a married woman.

According to an eyewitnesses who made the video which has gone on to become an Internet sensation, the woman's husband had long suspected that his wife had a string of secret sexual affairs with other men and decided to place a deadly and potent charm called Kikamba, (Magun in Nigeria), on her so that any man that sleeps with her would be stuck, thereby exposing her infidelity.
it did not take long before the police officer was caught in the Kikamba magic while having sex with the woman in a hotel in Katui County, 160 kilometers east of Nairobi, the Kenyan capital.

SHAKHTAR DONETSK SEEKS OUT AGHAHOWA

Despite his short stint in the Senior national team, nobody can deny Julius Aghahowa was a natural. He delivered whenever he was called upon even when it was from the bench. An impact sub in Nigeria but a super regular for the one team that he served.

In the Europa League Round of 32, Shakhtar will play against Schalke. 10 years ago, the teams faced each other at the same stage of the UEFA Cup. In the return game in Gelsenkirchen, the only and winning goal was scored by Shakhtar striker Julius Aghahowa. We got in touch with the hero of that encounter.

– Julius, do you remember your goal in Gelsenkirchen?
– Of course I do! It was an interesting game. We worked hard and were well prepared for the match. We really wanted to claim a positive result, and we succeeded.

In that episode, did you intentionally shoot it between the legs of the goalkeeper?
– Yes. I got a pass from the left flank and started entering the penalty area. After beating a defender, I had just the goalkeeper in front of me. I immediately decided how I would strike it, and did the right thing since the ball flew into the back of the net! After that game we were all very happy, because we made it further in the UEFA Cup. I had many important goals, with this one surely being one of them.

– Before the return game, did you have confidence to beat Schalke?
– That’s football: you cannot be one hundred percent sure about your success. But what we were surely confident about was our ability! We knew that we were well prepared. So we approached the match with optimism and won it.

– Is it hard to play away in Germany, especially in Gelsenkirchen?
– Of course it is. The stands are located very close to the field. It’s a challenge for the team who play away. The pressure of the fans is very serious! Therefore, Shakhtar should be ready for the fact that the stadium will be filled to capacity. And show good football.

– What do you make of the current Shakhtar’s chance of making it past Schalke?
– I have confidence in the guys. Shakhtar must make it to the next round. If I have some free time, I will go to Gelsenkirchen to support the team in the stadium. I would be very happy to do that. And, taking advantage of this opportunity, I want to wish the players, coaches, fans of Shakhtar and the club staff a happy new year. I wish them in 2016 peace, prosperity and all the best! May everyone be happy!

Album- Eyan Mayweather

Artiste- Olamide

Producer- B. Banks, Pheelz, Young John, and I.D Cabasa

Record Label- YBNL (2015)

Duration- 1 hour, 18 minutes

For four years Olamide has been on an unprecedented run.

It all started in 2011 with his raw and unpolished debut album 'RapSoDi'. The following year the kid from the slums of Bariga snatched rap music from the established Hip Hop kings with his dazzling street oriented sophomore 'YBNL' in 2012.

In 2013, he slaughtered pretenders to his throne with his third album 'Baddest Guy Ever Liveth'. In his tradition of dropping an album every year, Olamide released 'Street OT' in 2014 where he flaunted the strength of his YBNL Empire.

Tracklist of Eyan Mayweather (YBNL)

In April 2015 he solidified his alliance with the King of the EastPhyno with the history making collaborative LP 2 Kings. The album was no Watch The Throne, and even though a few cracks appeared it was enough to allow Olamide have the rap game in the chokehold.

Through sweat, hard work, tenacity and ambition, Olamide has been at the summit of the Nigerian rap game since 2012. Largely responsible for the explosion of indigenous rap, Olamide’s street raps delivered in Yoruba has made him unrivalled.

Hence that’s why his latest and fifth solo album 'Eyan Mayweather' is inspired by the undefeated achievements of boxing champion, the flashy and cocky Floyd Mayweather.

This album however is not a victory for Olamide. In his latest effort, the rapper comes up against his greatest foe yet, himself, and gets defeated.
play

Olamide turns 25 (YBNL)

In his usual manner this new LP is lengthy, 21 tracks spanning 1 hour, 18 minutes. While Olamide has been able to get away with the excessively high amount of songs on his past albums, he can’t wiggle out this time.

Surprisingly after so many albums, Olamide has refused to grow past his primary subject matter of hustle, hustle, and more hustle. On this album he is a king whose state of mind has refused to grow to accommodate his vast empire.

With a repetitive theme that is boring and nauseous, Olamide loses the interest of the listener very quick.

The album opens up with ‘Eyan Mayweather’ which sees Olamide banging his chest about his recent historic accomplishment- sold out shows in Lagos, London, America and Malaysia. Let’s take a minute to applaud him world conquering efforts.

He quickly follows up the Pheelz produced track with ‘Inferiority Complex’ (another Pheelz joint) which is a groovy Afrobeat based song. On the chorus he advises people with problems to leave everything to God- an obvious subject matter but Olamide’s Afrobeat crooning makes it enjoyable.
play

Olamide is widely known as Baddo (YBNL)

Eyan Mayweather sadly loses the plot from here on, as early as the third track titled ‘Don’t Stop’. The song suffers from childish production and the usual ‘ass’ talk, a subject matter that Olamide can no longer possibly offer anything new on.

The misfiring tracks come quick and fast after this. The B. Banks produced song ‘Where The Man’ has Olamide flirting a little bit with dancehall. With a limp chorus and a punch line like “Charlie make dem lock up/I no dey show Messi no be world cup” the song is skippable.

‘Igara’, ‘Boom Boom Boom’ and ‘Ball’ don’t do this album any favours. The chorus of the latter song is a copy of T.I’s hit ‘Ball’. On the song ‘Boom Boom Boom’ Olamide sings out these corny lines- “I’m the future no Ciara/I hit the nail on the head-MC Hammer.”

On ‘Be Happy’ which samples ‘Pon De Floor’ by Major Lazer, Olamide aimlessly raps on a beat. While he has the courage for trying a new sound, the end result shouldn't have made the album.
play

YBNL CEO, Olamide and his mum (Olamide Adedeji)

For a rapper who reps the hood and has goons, Olamide flirts a lot with too much of contemporary Highlife singing on this project. He has always done this on his other albums, but this time around he doesn’t have the hits or bangers to justify his foray into the land of non-rap commercial success.

Yes the singles ‘Bobo’ and ‘Melo Melo’ are hits, but the remaining non-rap tracks weigh down the album considerably.

On ‘Say Something’ he sings in Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa to try and catch that national appeal but his crowd pleasing effort doesn’t score him a hit. 'Matters Arising', 'Mama Mi', and 'Toriomo' are examples of Olamide’s crooning got bad.

Besides the theme flaw, another drawback on 'Eyan Mayweather' is that there are no guest appearances. On his past albums, Olamide still had enough fuel in him to power his albums. Last year he featured his YBNL princes on Street OT which energized him into delivering his trademark bars.

Olamide is not emotionally layered enough to carry a whole album by himself. His solo effort is not thought provoking or introspective enough to hold you spellbound. Even when he tries to go personal and reminisce about his mother on ‘Mama Mi’ it doesn’t strike a chord. La familia materials like this have been covered in more vivid and moving details on past songs such as ‘Anifowose’ on #BGEL, and ‘1999’ on Street OT.
play

Olamide, Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Phyno thrill London (Press)

The production on this LP also falls short. Olamide’s longtime producer Pheelz who handles majority of the production has exhausted himself creatively. It is clear that both rapper and producer need some time out.

The two last tracks ‘Jega’, and ‘OG Waheedee’, are cuts that show Olamide at his best, but songs like these are very few on the album.

It’s been a great run for Olamide, five solo albums in five years is the stuff of legends. A classic album is also a feature of rap legends. With 'Eyan Mayweather' Olamide has not scored one, and unless he re-invents himself his stellar career might be short of a classic.

Nigeria’s rap Mayweather has been knocked out in Round 5. Can he get up and defeat his biggest foe, himself? Well, we have to watch, and see but I won’t bet against him.

The legend of Olamide continues…

David Mark flood Benue with customised rice, salt, tomatoes for election

The era of politicians using free food items to woo voters has come back as former Senate President, David Mark, is now distributing his own brand of customised rice, salt and tomatoes to the people of Benue State as he prepares for a rerun of the election that saw him to the Upper Chamber which was nullified by the Court of Appeal, Makurdi, last week.

Read: "Stomach Care: Have You Had Your Bag Of GEJ Rice?"

The four term Senator, according to his campaign team, ordered that the items be distributed free for the people of his Otukpo Constituency as a way of wooing them to vote for him again.

Close observers have noticed, however, that the stickers on the branded items were the same as those made for his campaign during the last election which were apparently diverted by some of his key supporters who were in charge of distribution.

It was also gathered that while some people rejected the food items, others still scrambled for them, an indication that the now heralded stomach infrastructure is playing a key role in elections in the country.

Karim Benzema tell his own side of the story

Real Madrid and France striker Karim Benzema has spoken out for the first time to the media since the sex tape saga involving him and France teammate Mathieu Valbuena surfaced publicly. Benzema was arrested and interrogated by French police and is accused of plotting and conspiring with childhood friend Karim Zenati to blackmail Lyon midfielder Mathieu Valbuena over a sextape the midfielder was involved in.

Benzema's involvement in the plot has not yet been fully determined but investigators believe he was approached by a childhood friend, Karim Zenati, to act as an intermediary and convince Valbuena to deal directly with the blackmailers.

Last week Valbuena said he was disappointed in Benzema but now speaking to TF1, Benzema said;
''I’d heard there was a video out there. I said I’d let him know. But I got the impression he already knew about it. I told him I could help him because I have a friend in Lyon [Benzema’s childhood friend Karim Zenati] that could deal with the problem.

“We spoke about it. I asked him if he had warned his family. I told him I’d found myself in situations like this in the past and that I’d told the police. He [Valbuena] told me he had told the police about it.
Then afterwards, when I hear all this talk about extortion, and that I’d demanded money from him – it makes me angry. The idea that I would need money, or my friend would need money – it’s ridiculous. I’ve earned a good living for a long time. I don’t need money. We never, never spoke about money.”
Asked if he understood why Valbuena has said he is “very disappointed” in him he replied: “I understand. But that night, he wasn’t disappointed. On the contrary. He said to me – and he could tell you this himself – ‘thanks, brother, for having warned me.’”

Benzema also hit back at French prime minister Manuel Valls' comments for saying he had no place on the French national team..
“I’m getting accused of all sorts of things. They’re dragging my name through the mud as if I was a criminal. It’s horrible.”

He added: “The only thing I regret in this whole thing is to have laughed about it on the phone with my childhood friend [Zenati]. That’s the only thing. I apologise to him [Valbuena] and his family for that. On the phone you act silly; sometimes you laugh about things that may be serious, but you don’t take them seriously.”
'Hopefully it will end well, we will all be OK ... and we will all return to the France team to win that Euro,'
'I'm not playing for the cameras, I'm not playing a game,' insisted Benzema .
'I'm here to be sincere.'

Le Monde published statements given by Benzema to the judge investigating the case after he spent a night in custody at Versailles police station in November. Benzema denied his implication in the saga and told the judge he was a victim of 'a big misunderstanding,' saying he was rich so he doesn't understand why he will blackmail.

'I am really disappointed with the magnitude of this story, because blackmail and stuff like that, frankly it's very serious,' Benzema was quoted as saying.

'I've been successful in my life and (Zenati) is being looked after, because he is my boyhood friend,' Benzema said. 'That's why I don't understand this story about blackmail and money.'

The court has placed Benzema under judicial supervision, meaning he cannot meet with Valbuena during the investigation. If the case continues to drag on until the Euros start on June 10, France coach Didier Deschamps won't be able to call both players in his squad for the continental tournament.

EFCC raid Raymond Dokpesi's home in Abuja

EFCC officials yesterday raided the Abuja home of Chairman of Daar Communications, Raymond Dokpesi who is being interrogated for his alleged connection in the $2.1 billion arms deal scandal. The search lasted over an hour. Speaking to newsmen after the search, Dokpesi said
"Its a change of Environment. Its quite peaceful, quite okay. I was granted bail yesterday (Tuesday December 1st) where they asked me to get two directors of the Federal government arm to also deposit my passport but my lawyer was not available and I said that I was not going to sign but then I think what they said was the allegation was alleged conspiracy, money laundering and misappropriation of public funds. But I am a loyal Nigerian citizen, a patriotic Nigerian citizen. I have no problem like I said. I am strong in spirit. I am toughened".

Amazon Unveils Its Delivery Drone of the Future

Amazon unveiled a prototype drone yesterday that could one day deliver packages to online shoppers' doorsteps just minutes after they press the "buy" button.

The new drone, or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), was created for Prime Air, a same-day delivery service that Amazon first announced in 2013. In the new YouTube video yesterday (Nov. 29) describing this futuristic service, the company said that its small drones (they weigh just 55 pounds, or 25 kilograms) could deliver packages in 30 minutes or less. However, you won't be able to get that new bowling ball shipped to you via Prime Air; the drones can only deliver packages weighing 5 lbs. (2.3 kg) or less.

Embedded with "sense-and-avoid" technology, the highly autonomous UAVs can safely fly beyond an operator's line of sight, according to Amazon, which also stated that the delivery vehicles can carry packages to customers within a 10-mile (16 kilometers) radius of an Amazon warehouse.

Pit Of Hell: Lady claims late Prince Abubakar Audu's son raped her

While the people of Kogi State and indeed Nigerians mourned the demise of Prince Abubakar Audu, the former state governor who was contesting for the 2015 gubernatorial elections on Saturday, November 21, one lady who goes by the nameEmpress Sugarbelly on her Twitter account, was jumping up in joy.

Innocent looking Empress Sugarbelly

Her joy, according to her, came because the late Audu's sons,Mustapha, Kabir, Bashir and their cousin, Jibrin, and his friends, regularly raped her repeatedly.

This is how she started her series of tweets:

"The Prince Audu I knew was a monster, and I am glad he is dead, and I spit and I dance on his grave."
She followed up with this:

"The only thing better than Prince Abubakar Audu dying today would be if all his sons could hurry up and die too."And this:
"I'm so happy he's dead, God please hurry up and take Mustapha, Kabir, and Bashir too, and that their animal of a c ousin called Jibrin."
Recalling how Mustapha and his friends raped her repeatedly, she wrote:
"He will choke me while f***ing me. I cried and begged him but he will get angry and say I was ruining his flow.
Whenever I did not do what he or his friends wanted, he would hit me and drag me by my hair. So I learnt to be obedient.
He used to bring new friends every time. He did other unpleasant things like burn me and hold my head under water while his friends f***ed me, but that was only once or twice. I was in love with him and inside, I kept hoping he didn’t mean it and if I was obedient enough, he would go back to being the sweet guy i met."
Since her first tweet, she has been heating up with more revelations and when many people tweeted insults at her for what she has been putting up, she took her time to give an extensive narration of what she went through in the hands of the man.

Read what she wrote:
"Every time I see a white Nissan Altima, my palms go sweaty, and my knees get weak. It’s an involuntary reaction born of so many nights being driven around Asokoro pinned to the floor of Tunji’s white Nissan Altima, barely able to breathe, the stench of weed stinging my eyes while I choked on the penis of whomever it pleased Mustapha to force me to pleasure that day.

I can’t have music playing while driving around in a car either. Or just sitting around at home. I can’t have music playing period. Especially not Maroon5. If I get into your car, please drive in fucking silence or you will make it hard for me to breathe.
Right now, there are thousands of people running wild with their “opinions”, talking authoritatively about what Mustapha, Abdul, Tunji, and their band of friends and brothers did to me, as if they were there. As if they hovered around us unseen like evil spirits, listening to everything that was said, seeing everything that happened, as if they know.

3 things that happened on last night's episode

From guest stars to good music, and of course drama twist, last night's episode of "Empire" has got fans talking.
Titled "Sinned Against," the episode had Alicia Keys make her debut on show, and ended with a scene that had fans wondering "what exactly is going on?"

1. Anika is obsessed with her ex lovers son, Hakeem, who also happens to be the father of her child.
Hakeem invited Anika over to confront her, and then Anika insisted that Hakeem was just scared of admitting his feelings for her."stop fighting it!" "You love me," she yelled at him. “You will never be one of us. You will never be a Lyon, ever!” Hakeem replied

2. Cookie finally knows Laz is nothing but a snitch. There was also a very tense moment between Lucious and Laz.Cookie snatched her gun, handed it over to Lucious and left the room. (Someone was really heartbroken.)

3. "Sinned Against," came to an end with Jamal and Skye Summers (Alicia Keys) performing a a new song, and then sealing it with a passionate kiss. (Maybe Jamal isn't so gay afterall).

Next episode and midseason finale of "Empire" airs Wednesday, December 2, 2015.

Black Friday's Best Deals: Movies, Toys Are On Discount; Electronics, Not So Much

Black Friday shoppers tend to flock to the electronics aisles for big deals. Photo: AP file.

If you’re planning to head out into the fray on Black Friday, chances are you’ve got a gadget on your shopping list.

Electronics have traditionally been popular among bargain-hunters during the annual sales bonanza, accounting for some of the most-wanted ‘doorbuster’ deals. Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, has stocked up on more than 1 million TVs this year in anticipation of high demand.

But is it worth standing in line in the cold on Thanksgiving evening or in the wee hours of Black Friday, dodging the elbows of fellow shoppers to snag a discount of around 15%?

That’s how much you’ll save on average on consumer electronics, computers and phones if you wait to buy them on Black Friday, according to data from WalletHub.

Analysts at the personal finance site compared the prices across a broad selection of items between Oct 26 and Nov 19 to their advertised prices on Black Friday. They found that shoppers can expect an additional discount of 14% on phones and computers and 17% on other consumer electronics.

The best deals to be had, per WalletHub’s analysis, are on movies, books and music (28% off pre-Black Friday prices), video games (22% off) and toys (22%).

And if you’re thinking of entering the Black Friday melee to procure a little sparkle for a loved one, you might want to consider waiting. Jewelry will be discounted by an average of just 4%.

If you’re looking to redecorate, you’ll also want to check Black Friday ads carefully for specific savings. The category averages a discount of 8%.

Of course, there are terrific deals to be had across every category, including in the ever-popular electronics aisle. WalletHub compiled a list of the biggest savings at most of the large retail chains frequented by those seeking Black Friday bargains, including

52-yr-old man arrested for kidnapping, raping 14-yr-old boy

The suspect, Hassan Muhammad

Hassan Muhammad, a 52-year-old man based in Maje village on the outskirt of Suleja, Niger State, has been arrested by the State Police Command for allegedly abducting a 14-year-old boy and sodomising him for two months before he was rescued, Daily Trust reports.
The Sokoto State born Muhammad, a trader and father of seven, was first arrested by members of the Suleja Emirate Vigilante operating in the area before he handed over to the Suleja Police Area Command, where he was currently being held.
The victim, who is currently on admission at the Suleja General Hospital, told reporters that Muhammad met him two months ago at Lambata village along Suleja-Minna road, where he lives with an Islamic instructor as an Almajiri at the cleric’s informal school.
During the encounter, the boy said Muhammad lured him to join him in his business of selling dresses at Maje, where he has a shop and the boy seeing an opportunity in the horizon, agreed to go with him.
The the suspect took him to a village market where he sold his wares and they then returned to his base.
The victim further alleged that Muhammad used to have homosexual sex with him inside his shop.
He said on the first night, he woke up to find himself half-naked with the man beside him cleaning his private part. The victim further disclosed that the man usually locked him in the shop anytime he was away but always together in the shop whenever he was around.
He alleged that the man used to rape him twice in a week.

NOKIA GET POWERED BY ANDROID

The rumoured Nokia C1, the smartphone that has been in leaks since late last year, has now surfaced in a new render image on the Web. While all the leaks and rumours until now pointed out the handset to run Android with the company's Z Launcher, the new render shows the smartphone to run Windows 10 OS as well - tipping the handset could be offered in two variants for the two operating systems.
The leaked image render for the Nokia C1 shows the handset in White, Gold, Pink, and Grey colour variants alongside two more units. While the unit in foreground is seen running the Nokia Z Launcher for Android, the one in the background (right side) is seen running Windows 10 Mobile. The tipster who leaked the image said (via Nokiapoweruser) that the handset will arrive in both OS versions.
In addition, while a leaked image from September showed the smartphone's rear camera at the centre, the latest render shows it placed on the top-left corner. Since Nokia is still silent on the matter, the latest leaked render should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Going by past leaks and rumours, the Nokia C1 is tipped to include a 5-inch FHD display, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. It is said to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow as well. Previous reports have suggested that the Nokia C1 will be powered by an Intel chipset and feature 2GB of RAM.
It needs to be pointed out that Nokia can't use its brand on smartphones until Q4 2016, because of theacquisition of its devices and services division by Microsoft. Earlier this year, Nokia announced that it intends to get back in the smartphone business by licensing designs to hardware manufacturers. The Finnish-based technology company, which once held the pole position in the mobile handset market, lost its dominance with the rise of Apple and Android smartphones, and its decision to use Windows Phone as its operating system of choice instead of Android arguably speeded up its demise.

In this case, you should because you'll constantly feel desperate for those little moments when your partner makes you feel special and other times you feel really terrible.
If you've been trying to find a way around your dilemma, Lindsey Kupfer of YourTango lists a few signs to help you know where you stand in your partner's life:
Almost all your plans with this person are last minute ...
... even though he/she always asks what your plans are for the night way in advance.
You find yourself turning people down while you wait to see if he/she wants to see you.
And then you regret that you wasted your night waiting on them.
You're never the person they want to take to big events, like weddings.
Even when they're seeing someone else, they still try to keep you on the hook.
They almost always bail on things that are important to you.
It takes FOREVER for them to respond to a text.
You constantly feel like you put in ALL the effort.
They expect you to always answer when they call, but never answer when you call.
This sounds way too familiar: "We can't be together right now."
You're always making excuses for them.
When you try to stand up for yourself, they blame you for being needy.
You remember everything they tell you about their lives ...
... but they never remember anything you say.
You're unhappy most of the time.
But you still hold on for those few moments you spend with them.

The ceremony is thought to have been held in Togo, Adebayor’s adoptive country.
Similarly, Super Eagles striker Emenike announced his conversion during a conversation with a coach of his club Vitor Pereira. Daily Post report.
The top scorer at AFCON 2013 was absent when the squad had breakfast on Saturday, prompting the manager to ask his whereabouts.
Emenike said: “I’m fasting”
Pereira replied: “You’re not a Muslim.”
Emenike insisted: “I became a Muslim

Buhari approves N400billion for workers’ salarie

President Buhari has approved a comprehensive relief package valued at over N400bn to put an end to the lingering crisis of unpaid workers’ salaries in the country. Vanguard gathered that a three-pronged relief package that will end the workers plight include:

The sharing of about $2.1b (N413.7bn) in fresh allocation between the states and the federal government. The money is sourced from recent LNG proceeds to the federation account, and its release okayed by the president;

A Central Bank-packaged special intervention fund that will offer financing to the states, ranging from between N250bn to N300bn. This would be a soft loan available to states to access for the purposes of paying backlog of salaries;

And a debt relief program proposed by the Debt Management Office, DMO, which will help states restructure their commercial loans currently put at over N660bn, and extend the life span of such loans while reducing their debt-servicing expenditures.

This is how the universe will end

Vanderbilt University mathematicians have come up with a new theory of “cosmological viscosity” (how sticky the universe is) that challenges current theories.

For decades, cosmologists have had trouble reconciling the classic notion of viscosity based on the laws of thermodynamics with Einstein’s general theory of relativity, according the the team, which has now come up with a fundamentally new mathematical formulation of the problem that appears to bridge this long-standing gap.

The new math has some significant implications for the ultimate fate of the universe. It tends to favor one of the more radical scenarios that cosmologists have developed: the “Big Rip.”

The new approach was developed by Assistant Professor of Mathematics Marcelo Disconzi in collaboration with physics professors Thomas Kephart and Robert Scherrer and is described in a paper published earlier this year in the journal Physical Review D.

Cosmological viscosity is a form of bulk viscosity, which is the measure of a fluid’s resistance to expansion or contraction. The reason we don’t often deal with bulk viscosity in everyday life is because most liquids we encounter cannot be compressed or expanded very much.

Disconzi began by tackling the problem of relativistic fluids. Astronomical objects that produce this phenomenon include supernovae (exploding stars) and neutron stars (stars that have been crushed down to the size of planets).

The problem: no one has managed to come up with a generally accepted way to handle viscous fluids traveling at relativistic velocities. In the past, the models formulated to predict what happens when these more realistic fluids are accelerated to a fraction of the speed of light have been plagued with inconsistencies: the most glaring of which has been predicting certain conditions where these fluids could travel faster than the speed of light.

“This is disastrously wrong,” said Disconzi, “since it is well-proven experimentally that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light.”

These problems inspired the mathematician to re-formulate the equations of relativistic fluid dynamics in a way that does not exhibit the flaw of allowing faster-than-light speeds. He based his approach on one that was advanced in the 1950s by French mathematician AndrĂ© Lichnerowicz. Next, Disconzi teamed up with Kephart and Scherrer to apply his equations to broader cosmological theory. This produced a number of interesting results, including some potential new insights into the mysterious nature of dark energy.

Dark energy theories fail to consider viscosity

In the 1990s, the physics community was shocked when astronomical measurements showed that the universe is expanding at an ever-accelerating rate. To explain this unpredicted acceleration, they were forced to hypothesize the existence of an unknown form of repulsive energy that is spread throughout the universe. Because they knew so little about it, they labeled it “dark energy.”

Most dark energy theories to date have not taken cosmic viscosity into account, despite the fact that it has a repulsive effect strikingly similar to that of dark energy. “It is possible, but not very likely, that viscosity could account for all the acceleration that has been attributed to dark energy,” said Disconzi. “It is more likely that a significant fraction of the acceleration could be due to this more prosaic cause. As a result, viscosity may act as an important constraint on the properties of dark energy.”

Another interesting result involves the ultimate fate of the universe. Since the discovery of the universe’s run-away expansion, cosmologists have come up with a number of dramatic scenarios of what it could mean for the future.

One scenario, dubbed the “Big Freeze,” predicts that after 100 trillion years or so the universe will have grown so vast that the supplies of gas will become too thin for stars to form. As a result, existing stars will gradually burn out, leaving only black holes which, in turn, slowly evaporate away as space itself gets colder and colder.

An even more radical scenario is the “Big Rip.” It is predicated on a type of “phantom” dark energy that gets stronger over time. In this case, the expansion rate of the universe becomes so great that in 22 billion years or so material objects begin to fall apart and individual atoms disassemble themselves into unbound elementary particles and radiation.

The key value involved in this scenario is the ratio between dark energy’s pressure and density, what is called its equation of state parameter. If this value drops below -1 then the universe will eventually be pulled apart. Cosmologists have called this the “phantom barrier.” In previous models with viscosity the universe could not evolve beyond this limit.

In the Desconzi-Kephart-Scherrer formulation, however, this barrier does not exist. Instead, it provides a natural way for the equation of state parameter to fall below -1.

“In previous models with viscosity the Big Rip was not possible,” said Scherrer. “In this new model, viscosity actually drives the universe toward this extreme end state.”

According to the scientists, the results of their pen-and-paper analyses of this new formulation for relativistic viscosity are quite promising but a much deeper analysis must be carried out to determine its viability. The only way to do this is to use powerful computers to analyze the complex equations numerically. In this fashion the scientists can make predictions that can be compared with experiment and observation.

Abstract of New approach to cosmological bulk viscosity

We examine the cosmological consequences of an alternative to the standard expression for bulk viscosity, one which was proposed to avoid the propagation of superluminal signals without the necessity of extending the space of variables of the theory. The Friedmann equation is derived for this case, along with an expression for the effective pressure. We find solutions for the evolution of the density of a viscous component, which differs markedly from the case of conventional Eckart theory; our model evolves toward late-time phantomlike behavior with a future singularity. Entropy production is addressed, and some similarities and differences to approaches based on the Mueller-Israel-Stewart theory are discussed.

Mariah Carey and new billionaire boyfriend already talking marriage?

TMZ is speculating that Mariah Carey and her new boyfriend, James Packer, who is worth $4.6bn are already talking marriage. Read their report below...
Mariah doesn't waste time ... just days after she hopped on a yacht with new billionaire BF James Packer, they're already talking marriage.  Our Mariah sources say it's insane ... they've been "dating" for just a matter of days, but he's already told her he wants to marry her, sooner rather than later. The soonest can be when she's officially divorced from Nick Cannon. But we're told Mariah is open to tying the knot with James.
We got this photo of Mariah and James on the boat, wearing matching robes ... almost like they're on a honeymoon.
They've been cruising from country to country since late last week, and James blared Mariah's music for everyone to hear, including all the people on vastly smaller boats.
We broke the story ... James is obsessed with Mariah and her music. He went to her concert in Vegas a month-and-a-half ago and has been pursuing her ever since.

It's like a blast from the past.

Crosley Executive USB Turntable
First, there were cylinders of wax. And then we cleaned out our ears and started listening to music on discs. No, not compact discs yet, but records. Now, over 100 years since we listened to Emile Berliner's platters that matter, we're still enamored with records. First quantum dot monitor to hit US retail shelves this summer

Quantum dot Philips

We’ve been hearing a bit more about quantum dot technology lately, and now Phillips has released the world’s first quantum dot monitor. The Phillips 276E6ADS sports a 27-inch screen with full HD resolution. The monitor utilizes Philips Color QS Vision IQ, which is optimized to provide vivid colors and more realistic images. Quantum dot technology is a semiconductor nanomaterial that forces the electrons to move only in three spatial directions, along the x,y, and z axis, supposedly providing an image that is completely stable and uniform.
Philips have partnered with QD Vision, which produces nanomaterials that dramatically improves color quality in televisions and other types of video display technology. Color IQ, QD Vision’s trademarked design, is a semiconductor nanocrystal technology that precisely emits light to produce more vibrant blues, greens, and reds. LCD TVs and monitors with Color IQ usually exhibit a more dynamic range of colors and can show the true natural palette encoded in the picture.
Defined color standards shown on chart of the human visual spectrum. Most LCD color televisions trade off color accuracy and detail as you go to a larger display. Have you noticed the same model of any brand TV seemingly has better color and smoothness on a 40-inch set than it does on a 60-inch set?  These sets only offer about 70% of the NTSC standard color gamut. QD Vision claims their technology offers 100% of the color standard, and looks vivid at any size or resolution.

For graphic artists and video enthusiasts, quantum dot displays offers 99% Adobe RGB color reproduction as well. The ability to display as much of the color gamut as possible is critical to photographers and producers of visual content. Previously, high-end monitors have offered around 80% of the gamut, while the Philips quantum dot display is the first to claim 100% of the NTSC standard and 99% of the Adobe RGB standard.

Touch Display Research, an independent technology market research and consulting firm, forecasts that the quantum dot display and lighting component market will surpass $2 billion by 2016 and reach $10.6 billion by 2025. Dr. Jennifer Colegrove, CEO of Touch Display Research, projects that “51% of computer monitors will quantum dot technology by 2025.” This statement is based on market analysis that profiled over 60 companies working on quantum dot materials and components

Posted in: Health, Health Studies Posted: April 21, 2015 Beware: Vitamins May Boost Cancer And Heart Disease Risk

Many people think that taking vitamins is always beneficial to one’s health. A new large-scale study found that isn’t necessarily true. And there may be too much of a good thing. In fact, new research has shown that taking vitamin supplements could increase the riskof developing cancer and heart disease by a fifth, according to ITV News.

The decade-long study examined thousands of people–over 300,000–and the health benefits of supplements, finding that the supplements can “do more harm than good.” The study was led by the University of Colorado Cancer Centre. Sometimes people think that taking extra supplements can make them healthier, but doing so can be unsafe, and even potentially deadly. The experts warned that taking a greater quantity than the recommended daily dose of over-the-counter vitamins could increase the risk of developing cancer and heart disease by up to 20 percent, according to SKY News.

Researchers have stressed that the public should obtain their vitamins from a healthy diet rather than pills. The study was prompted by researchers who observed that people who ate more fruits and vegetables tend to have lower cancer rates. When first tested on animals, the results were promising, but when researchers tested thousands of people over a 10-year period with vitamins and placebos, the results changed. Professor Tim Byers of the University of Colorado Cancer Center stated the following, according to SKY News.
